Family policies
What families ask before a first class.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
Watching class and belt day
Parents and family are welcome to watch any class from the bench along the wall. Please keep to the bench during class, turn the flash off, and stay seated during belt day.
What to wear and bring
A t-shirt and stretchy pants or shorts are fine for the first class, and we lend a uniform for that visit. No jewelry, hair tied back, nails short and shoes off at the door.
When to keep your child home
If your child has a fever, a stomach bug or anything that spreads, please keep them home and send us a message. You do not need to give us the details.
Drop-off and pickup
Children stay in the dojo until a parent or an adult you named at registration comes in for them. We keep a sign-in sheet at the front desk, and we check who is collecting.
Absences and late arrival
Message the front desk if your child will miss a class or be late. A child who arrives after the circle can join in when the next game starts.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for the main holidays and, rarely, for snow. Closures are posted on the booking page and we text families the same morning.
Leaving the program
Enrollment runs month to month. To stop, tell us in writing at least 30 days ahead; the month in progress is billed as usual. Ask us how pausing works for travel.
Phones and filming
Phones stay on silent and in a bag during class. Please ask an instructor before filming, and we ask families not to post pictures of other people's children.

Safety routines
Sign-in at the front desk
Children sign in at the front desk and stay in the dojo until a parent or a named adult comes in for them. We check who is collecting.
Mat and shoe rules
Shoes stay in the row by the door. Jewelry comes off, hair is tied back and nails are short. Pads and uniforms are wiped down between classes.
Instructors on the mat
More than one adult is on the mat in every Little Ones class, and the bench for parents stays in view of the door.
Gentle contact
Little Ones has no partner work. In Juniors and Older kids, drills start slow and on pads, and contact to the head is not part of any class.
First aid
An instructor with current CPR and first aid training is on the mat in every class, and the front desk keeps a first aid kit.
Class size
Classes have up to 10 children. When a class is full, we keep a waiting list instead of adding a place.
